Planting and Tending Your Garden
SEED OF TRUTH
Read Ephesians 6:5-9.
What does the Lord say to bondservants? Masters? How can we all apply this to our daily life? Are we not all bondservants of the Lord? How are we to live each day and with what heart attitude?
PLANT THE SEED
Quietly recite today’s focus verse to yourself. Hide it in your heart and meditate on it throughout the day.
“Not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man.”
WATER THE SEED
What are your daily duties? What is your heart attitude toward each of those duties? Think through your days. Are you working as unto the Lord? At home? At work? At school? Are you giving the Lord your all? Do you think you might be trying to do things in your own strength? God is looking for those who are serving the Lord from a pure heart. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.” Of one man it says, “And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father; and he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left” (2 Chronicles 34:2). Ask the Lord to help you serve Him with the right heart. If you are feeling overwhelmed, ask Him for help. Ask Him for His grace and His strength. Don’t give up or give in. Be careful whose eyes you seeking to please (Colossians 3:23). What will the eyes of the Lord see in you?
BEAR THE FRUIT
Do all as unto the Lord.
CLOSE IN PRAYER
Ask the Lord to bring to life all that has been planted in your heart today
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
