Planting and Tending Your Garden
SEED OF TRUTH
Read Ephesians 4:9-14.
Paul clearly points out that as saints we are to be equipped for the work of ministry and for the building up of the body of Christ.
PLANT THE SEED
Quietly recite today’s focus verse to yourself. Hide it in your heart and meditate on it throughout the day.
“Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”
WATER THE SEED
Are you doing everything that you can to be equipped to carry out the ministry the Lord has called you to? As a wife? As a mother? As a teacher? As a fellow servant? Where is there a need in your church? The nursery? The welcoming committee? The food bank? Are you actively serving where there is a need? Where is your focus? Do you need to make any changes?
All I can hear is Christ’s words in the Sermon on the Mount: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). Would you ask God to make that your focus, your passion, your desire? And would you make that passion real and active by acting on it? Is there anything that you would have to stop seeking so that you can truly seek first His kingdom?
BEAR THE FRUIT
Attain to the unity of the faith.
CLOSE IN PRAYER
Ask the Lord to bring to life all that has been planted in your heart today.
(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
