God’s Word as Food
When it comes to renewing your mind, think of God’s word as food. Just as your body needs physical food to prosper, so your spirit man needs God’s word to prosper.
For the first nine years of getting saved, I did not reflect the character of Christ. I did not know that renewing my mind inwardly was required for change outwardly. But once I experienced God’s love, I developed a hunger to consume His word.
Think of how often you consume food during the day. Can you use those times as a trigger to meditate upon scripture? Meditate means to ponder or to mutter. Consistency in renewing your mind to God’s word is more important than the volume you consume. Little bites add up.
Consistency builds habits. When you view God’s word as necessary for survival, you will make the time to consume it!
Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
Job 23:12 KJV
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:4 KJV
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:35-40 KJV
But until that day comes, live as he has instructed you to live. Go forth and teach all Nations, I am that I am. These are the words of Our Lord and Savior.
