Overcoming Temptation 2

Purity is about being clean in what we see, what we say, what we think, and how we feel. These things determine how we act. It’s an internal state of being “clean” that produces positive outward actions. Purity is what keeps us knowing and doing what’s right.

Like our Scriptures for today said, we need to focus on being clean on the inside first. We shouldn’t just pretend to have it all together on the outside. That’s just being fake. We need to look inward and see what areas we need to clean up.

Maybe it’s not getting angry or frustrated or jealous of others, but being patient and happy for them.

Or it could be choosing not to swear when you hear others do it, but being clean in the things you say.

It could be on the inside not thinking bad things, but keeping your mind clean and only thinking about good things.

Or even not looking at or watching things that you know you shouldn’t.

So what areas of your life do you need to clean up a little bit?

When we can figure out how to live our lives with purity, then we’ll start to act the way God intended for us to act.

Matthew 23:25-26

25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
10Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
